No going out today :(

Was kinda looking forward to our salad buffet dinner appointment tonight...feeling kind of disappointed tho I was the one who called it off. Hun was supposed to meet me in town after his external meeting, but he had to cancel the meeting last minute due to another urgent meeting.

He offered to meet me near his workplace or we can go to Jurong Point. But I told him no point meeting tonight...we can meet tomorrow since we don't have any plans yet, which is better for him.

Still, i'm feeling disappointed...was looking forward to it since yesterday...even dressed up abit to go to town...but nvm, another time then...

How many social workers does it take to change a light bulb?

Tuesday, August 29, 2006

Been feeling fried lately....so decided to find some humour to relax myself. Found the lightbulb joke and it's really funny! Had a good laugh...haha...This can only be fully appreciated by fellow social workers or those in the field...

How many social workers does it take to change a light bulb?
-- The light bulb doesn't need changing, it's the system that needs to change.
-- None. Social workers never change anything.
-- None. The light bulb is not burnt out, it's just differently lit.
-- None. They set up a team to write a paper on coping with darkness.
-- None. It's not in our budget.
-- None. It is no longer a reimbursable activity. You must first define the measurable outcome you are trying to achieve and get approval from the State Welfare Authorities.
-- One. Can't really tell you why, it just feels right.
-- One. But you need letters of support from community social service agencies.

-- One. To case-manage the different organizations involved in changing the light bulb.
-- One. But you will need to submit at least 3 quotations to apply for funding for the new lightbulb first.
-- One. They can only afford one social worker to do all the work, including changing light bulbs.

-- Three. One to do the work, one to share the experience, and one to supervise and make sure that professional work is done.
-- Five. One to screw it in, three to form the support group, and one to help with placement.

The little things in life that brings joy

Simple things in life can bring a smile on my face :)

My plant is growing well! The one in my office workstation has grown 1 new leaf since I brought it here...and I can see another one's growing :) THe one in my toilet has grown so well that I've decided to bring it to the living room, and bring the one in the living room in the toilet.

My toilet is really a very good place to keep the plant...originally, the one in the toilet was on the fridge, but it started to turn yellow...probably due to the lack of sun. But since it was shifted to the toilet, it started to grow new leaves :) Since then, whevever there's a plant that has not been growing too well, they will be placed in the toilet for a few days :)

Yesterday evening, i realised that the current one in the toilet is growing vertically, but it's sagging downwards. As my vase is a short one, I decided to remove the long stem and place it a tall vase so that it was more room to grow. And I so happy that that vase can be separated into 2 already :)

I remembered when LL first gave me the plants, I had only 1 pot, not I have 4 :) The one in my office has grown from just 2 leaves to 8! I should take some photos to post it up...when I remember too lah....

I do not know why I get so excited over new growths in my plants, but I just am :) Perhaps its because they represent hope, new life, renewal and all good things. But it's such a joy to watch them grow :)

Amore!

Thursday, August 24, 2006

Haha...signed up for a one year package for Amore Fitness. Am getting so fat that I've finally decided to do something about it! I feel like Garfield :( Knowing me...no determination, easily give up, no discipline...i figured that best way for me to keep fit is to pay for it.

When I invest a substantial amount ($105) a month on an exercise programme, I BETTER MAKE THE FULL USE OF IT!! So that I will not l0o-gee my $$$. The good thing about Amore is that it allows me the flexibility to go for any classes at any outlets at any timing...I get to use their gym facilities too :) And it's an all ladies clubs so I won't have to feel shy abt not looking good in front of cool muscle-men....hahaha....But then I think sometimes not looking good in front of gorgeous babes can be worse!

Well well well...so now must siao on exercies till i become a babe myself...haha....(oh man...I'm starting to get so thick-skinned lately) But seriously, must look good in my wedding gown and photo shoots lah...Hun needs to slim down too liao! perhaps when I slim down, I can motivate him to do the same...haha....we wouldn't want 2 roly-polys for our wedding album now would we?

So it's time to get serious about keeping fit....also I'm getting pretty concerned for my own health...been falling sick frequently lately....take MC one a month and it's the at least 2 days kind! And somehow this year, docs have been telling me to exercise to build up my immunity...so tink it's starting to get serious liao...getting old lah...26 liao...no longer teenager...must take care cos the body does not recovere as fast as last time.

So whether it's for beauty or for health, Amore here I come!
